    Pros:
-Backlight keys with ability to dim and change colors
    -Great feeling keys
    -Incredible protection for your iPad
    -Long lasting battery
-Strong magnetic hinge for any viewing angle
    - When you don’t need the keyboard or a fixed viewing angle, you can separate the iPad and case from the keyboard and either carry the iPad separately or reinsert the iPad so that the back of the iPad is facing and covering the keys. Offers a way to keep both case and keyboard together while not leaving the keyboard exposed.
    -Logical and functional keyboard shortcuts
-In a league above the Apple Smart Keyboard for a fraction of the cost.

    Cons:
-A little on the heavy and bulky side but nothing unreasonable especially for the protection and quality of keyboard you’re getting

I originally purchased the Apple Smart Keyboard with my new iPad Pro primarily to take advantage of the smart connector but was left extremely disappointed. You have to spend $218 gets you a keyboard and compatible the silicone back cover that doesn’t block the smart connector. With no backlit keys, terrible feeling keys, no shortcuts, one viewing angle and never feeling like your iPad will be protected enough, I immediately had buyers remorse. So I started digging around for better keyboard cases and found this gem. I’ve had a couple of Zagg Folio keyboard cases in the past for older generations of iPads and was always very satisfied. This case is by far my favorite. My iPad feels so safe in this case, the keys feel amazing, the fact that you can change the key colors and brightness is great. I was a little bit apprehensive when I saw that the 4 iPad Pro speakers appear to be covered but it’s actually a brilliant design. The case essentially redirects the sound so that is projecting directly out at your face instead of in 2 different directions. It almost amplifies the sound. I’ve had this case for a month now and haven’t had to charge it up yet despite using the backlight pretty regularly. I’m also really happy with the sturdiness of the hinge allowing you to put your iPad at practically any viewing angle. This case does add a little heft to your iPad but I think it’s completely worth it, especially over the coveted Apple Smart Keyboard.

Was really hoping this one finally work out. I just want a keyboard case that has a keyboard, opens and closes and flipping works. I have tried four now, and every single one has something wrong. This one? Space key doesn’t work. It feels like it should work, but no spaces type on the screen. For $100 this is the crappiest one out there. At least the $50 clamshell worked for a good six months before crapping out.

Seems like it would be a great case, seems rugged, seems like it would keep my iPad safe. But it’s worthless other than being a $100 otter box.

TLDR; you’re spending big money on this so consider my complaints before buying. and heed advice to help your investment last. Certain aspects of this product do not live up to the price point.

The GOOD: First, this is the best case/keyboard combo. I’ve tried many. In 2 years I’ve dropped my ipad in this case countless times while managing a restaurant, traveling, and using it constantly at home as well (WITH screen protector! Be smart and always use a screen protector no matter what), and I do mean constantly, I use my ipad for everything, as a phone, for graphic design, business, I mean I use my ipad most of my day, and this case has MOSTLY stood the test of time. The keyboard will hold a charge for a couple of nights if you are using it for a few hours with the backlight on, and without the backlight it lasts much longer. IF you don’t use the actual keyboard much, it will last months and months no problem. I didn’t charge it for like 6 months, but didn’t use the keyboard very often, and it lit right up the second I went to use it one night, after all of that time, and lasted a few of hours too!
The magnetic/detachable design is the absolute best. Very strong magnets, extremely convenient. The magnet design (not the hinge) is the strongest aspect of this product.

THE BAD: The keyboard had keys pop off after like the second time i dropped it, and I was dropping it from a low hight, sitting in a low chair. They pop back in… BUT, the keyboard parts underneath the plastic deform easily inside of the case. The keyboard section alone is heavy, so it does fall hard (which this product is marketed as being able to withstand within reason), and the outside is fine, but the inside hardware of the keyboard is not secured in an effective way. It’s hard to take a picture of, but if you look s closely in the picture you can see an example: the space bar is slightly deformed, raised up a millimeter or two at the back of it, now while it doesn’t look terrible, the spacebar is actually very compromised underneath, something jolted out of place beneath it, so you have to mash it to register the keystroke. Without an effective spacebar, the most used key, typing is pretty dang difficult. For reference: the space bar thing happened very early on when it fell from my lap in a low chair, I mean it literally fell like less than 18 inches. The outside rubber it very durable, but the interior impact design for the keys/keyboard was not well-considered, and I expected that from what I paid for this case. (as you dear reader may know by now, this case is very expensive). Another problem with the heavy keyboard section is it makes the ipad fall harder when they are dropped while connected. Luckily the ipad unit is does its job! ALTHOUGH ONLY WITH A SCREEN PROTECTOR. This case will NOT guard your screen. I have gone through 4 or 5 screen protectors. YOUR SCREEN WILL BREAK INSIDE OF THIS CASE WITHOUT A SCREEN PROTECTOR. Protect your investment and always use a screen protector in unison with this product. That’s honestly just sound advice for any electronic device.
Now, the worst problem for me was the magnetic hinge breaking. It did NOT break right away, and even though I didn’t use the keyboard much, I did use it to hold up the ipad ALL of the time. It lasted for about a year until it began to crack at the edges at the stress point, then soon after the entire thing cracked in one big line. Not from dropping it mind you (I’m genuinely a very careful owner), but rather just from opening and closing it with the ipad. The gunk in the photo is from me attempting to gorilla glue it, but no apoxy I’ve used has been strong enough to repair it, so now I can’t type with it open at an angle or anything like that, because it just falls out. Very annoying, because the display mode is a feature I use literally all of the time.

One last small gripe, I wish this was available in white. Black is real slick and cool looking, but dust and stuff shows up SO easily on this case. It is easy to clean, but I just wish it was white so you couldn’t see every speck of everything.

In the end, if those small details were addressed, I’d spend twice the money I did for this, again and again. Keep that in mind, ZAGG! Step up your game, you’re the Ferrari of ipad cases, don’t skimp on the longevity features of an otherwise perfect product.
